§ 17-7. Establishment of drug-free zones.
(a)
The council pursuant to Act 171 of the 1989 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature hereby establishes the following drug-free zones within the parish:
All property located within one thousand (1,000) feet of the following property lines:
(1)
East Bank:
a.
Phoenix High School and Playground.
b.
Davant Community Center and Recreational Field.
(2)
West Bank:
a.
Belle Chasse area:
1.
State of Louisiana, Mental Health, Metropolitan Development Center and Playground, F. Edward Hebert Blvd.
2.
F. Edward Hebert Recreational Fields.
3.
Belle Chasse High School and Playground.
4.
Belle Chasse Tennis Courts, Ft. St. Leon Subdivision II.
5.
Belle Chasse Baptist Church and Playground.
6.
Our Lady of Perpetual Help School and Playground.
7.
River Oaks School and Playground.
8.
Belle Chasse Middle School and Playground.
b.
Port Sulphur Area:
1.
St. Jude Catholic School and Playground.
2.
Solid Rock Christian Academy and Playground.
3.
Port Sulphur Vocational/Technical School and Playground.
4.
Port Sulphur High School and Playground.
5.
Diamond Park.
c.
Buras area:
1.
Buras Middle School and Playground.
2.
Roger Halphen Recreational Field.
3.
Buras High School and Playground.
4.
Delta Heritage School and Playground.
5.
Ft. Jackson Athletic Field and Playground.

Boothville-Venice Area:

(b)
For the purpose of this section, certain words or terms are hereby defined. Words used in the present tense shall include the future, and the singular number shall include the plural and the plural the singular.
(1)
Drug-free zone: An area inclusive of any property used for school purposes by any school, within one thousand (1,000) feet of any such property and school buses.
(2)
School: Any public or private elementary, secondary or vocational-technical school in Louisiana.
(3)
School property: All property used for school purposes, including but not limited to school playgrounds.
(c)
The officers of the parish government are authorized to implement the provisions of this section and the provisions of Act 171 of the 1989 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature and to do any and all things necessary therefor.
(d)
The officers of the parish government are authorized to place such maps and documents with the clerk of court for the parish, the office of the parish school board and with the parish library and all branches of the parish library for public use and for future publication.
