Article II. STREET LIGHTING STANDARDS |
§ 19-24. Service equipment.
(a)
The service equipment shall consist of a service entrance conduit fitting a minimum thirty (30) ampere weatherproof fuse switch or fuse block, a galvanized weather proof junction box of suitable size (see N.E.C.) to connect service wires with underground feeder wires.
(b)
This equipment shall be mounted on the local electric utility company pole or other suitable service pole, with the service head at a height to be determined by the local utility, the service switch at a height of eight (8) feet above grade and the bottom of the junction box six (6) inches above grade. The service conductors shall be run in Schedule 40 PVC plastic conduit and the conduit to be continuous from the service head to the weather proof fused switch and from the weather proof fuse switch to the junction box. The service conduit shall be supported as required by the National Electrical Code.
(c)
Where service is from an all underground electrical system the raceway shall terminate in an underground pedestal provided by the local electric utility company. Conductors are to be clearly marked by the installing contractor as the hot leg's neutral and ground.
