§ 19-58. Liability for damages.

This article shall not be construed to relieve from or lessen the responsibility or liability of any party owning, operating, controlling, installing or removing any bridge and associated improvements, for damages to persons or property caused by any defect therein [or] by failure to provide adequate barricades, warning signs or signals or failure to control access to same, nor shall the parish or any officer or employee of such parish be held as assuming such liability by reason of the inspection or reinspection authorized herein or by reason of the approval or disapproval of any equipment authorized herein.
