§ 19-59. Definitions.

(a)

The term "bridge" is hereby defined as a structure carrying a pathway or roadway over a parish-owned, -operated or -maintained drainage canal which provides access by any means from land on one side of the drainage canal to land on the opposite side of the drainage canal.

(b)

The term "drainage canal" is hereby defined as an artificial or natural waterway for draining land.

(c)

The term "permittee" shall include any person using a drainage canal bridge under authority of the bridge permit issued by the council including the landowner, lessee, guests and relatives of same, and their respective heirs, successors and assigns.
