§ 19-67. Bridge maintenance.

(a)

The permittee shall be responsible for and shall ensure the proper maintenance of the bridge and appurtenances to prevent unnecessary deterioration of same and to prevent such bridge and appurtenances from becoming a nuisance or a hazard to the general health, safety and welfare of the general public.

(b)

The landowner and permittee shall also take any steps necessary to prevent the bridge and appurtenances from hindering in any manner the flow of drainage water in the drainage canal.

(c)

The parish engineer and the superintendent of levees and drainage shall inspect or cause to be inspected periodically all such bridges and appurtenances governed by this article to ensure that the same are maintained, constructed, altered or removed pursuant to the provisions of this article.
