§ 22-13. Meters larger than two inches.
(1)
All requests for water meters two (2) inches or larger shall require individual negotiations with the parish government prior to a determination of whether such use shall be approved. If the parish government approves such use, the customer shall be required to install, at the customer's expense, all piping, valves, meter boxes and meters in accordance with the specifications issued by the parish water department. All such installations shall be inspected by appropriate parish personnel in order to ascertain that the installations are in accordance with the specifications so issued prior to any water being furnished to the customer.
(2)
If at any time the parish water department determines that the type of meter is not accurately metering the water flowing through it due to different usage than in the water meter application the parish may change the meter to another type of meter that is more accurate in the application. The customer will be responsible for any additional cost of the new meter over the cost of the original meter.
(3)
If usage from a large meter or number of large meters used at the same premise causes the parish water system to not function at an adequate pressure or flow level or violate any existing local, state or federal guidelines or rules then the parish at their option may require the addition of back pressure maintaining valves on any or all meters. Full cost of such devices shall be paid for by the customer. If these devices are hampered with or adjusted by other than authorized parish personnel then it will constitute a violation of section 22-5 of this chapter.
