§ 22-18. Security deposit and responsibility of bills on rental property.

  • (1)

    A security deposit will be charged to all customers requesting service. The security deposit shall be as follows:

    (a)

    Thirty-five dollars ($35.00) for all residential owners of the property serviced by the meter.

    (b)

    Seventy-five dollars ($75.00) for all tenants of residential rental properties.

    (c)

    One hundred twenty-five dollars ($125.00) for all commercial property.

    (2)

    When a customer terminates service, the required security deposit will be returned in full, less any outstanding charges due the parish for water, sewer, refuse, or other charges.

    (3)

    When a consumer applies to change an existing commercial water meter to a residential water meter, provided the commercial establishment does not exist at said location, the consumer shall be afforded the opportunity of paying the security deposit over a three-month period, in addition to the consumer's current bill. Failure to pay within three (3) months shall subject the consumer to penalties and interest, plus disconnection of service and charges for reconnection of said services.
