§ 22-4. Shutting off water supply generally.
(1)
The parish water department is authorized and directed to shut off the water supply to any area, section, district or the entire parish at any such time as may be necessary for repairs or when a bona fide emergency arises.
(2)
The parish water department shall with all due diligence attempt to notify all consumers affected by a proposed shutoff so that necessary steps may be taken by each customer to provide a temporary water supply and to adopt any and all necessary safety measures.
(3)
When a consumer discovers or is notified that the water supply has been shut off, the consumer shall take all necessary and reasonable precautions to avoid injury by opening hot water faucets, quenching fires under boilers and in stoves or furnaces, shutting off gas heaters and taking any other action that may appear to be necessary.
