§ 2-59. Department of administration.
(a)
The department of administration is hereby created. The commissioner of administration shall be the executive head of the department of administration and as such shall have jurisdiction over all public buildings, except such public buildings placed under the jurisdiction and control of other commissioners pursuant to this article. In addition thereto he shall exercise general management and supervision of the grants and assistance rendered by the council to those individuals entitled to receive parish scholarships or parish aid because they are in poor and necessitous circumstances. He shall coordinate, supervise and manage the grants and assistance rendered by the council to the following public or quasi-public agencies: The judiciary, including constables and justice of the peace; the coroner; the registrar of voters; and the parish farm agent. The commissioner of administration shall act as liaison with the Plaquemines Parish Fair and Orange Festival; the provider of public transit services, and shall generally coordinate the efforts of the council to stimulate economic development within the parish and to generate positive public information about the parish.
(b)
Without in any manner limiting the generality of the foregoing, the department of administration shall be responsible for the following budget units: Taxation, assessor, indigent defender fund; criminal court fund, clerk of court; constables and justices of the peace; judges' pensions; coroner; registrar of voters; government buildings; school maintenance; economic development; publicity; fair and festival; parish farm agent; public transit system; scholarship; parish aid; grants and contributions; elections; and vehicle maintenance for all those vehicles assigned to drivers who regularly work in Districts 6, 7, 8, and 9 on the west bank of the river.
