§ 5-37. Animals biting persons or being bitten by rabid animal.

  • It shall be the duty of the parish health department or its agents to impound or cause to be impounded any dog or other animal that has bitten a human being within the parish, or which has been bitten by any animal having rabies or any infection associated therewith, for a period of at least ten (10) days for observation. If such animal so impounded shows indication of rabies, it shall be the duty of the health department to destroy such animal.
