§ 5-86. Wild, exotic, etc., animals—Keeping prohibited.

  • No person shall keep or permit to be kept on his premises any wild, exotic, ferocious, dangerous or vicious animal for display or exhibition purposes whether gratuitously or for a fee for the purpose of fighting or training to fight. Wild or exotic animal is hereby defined as any live monkey, primate, raccoon, skunk, wolf, wolf-hybrid, fox, fox-hybrid, coyote, coyote-hybrid, leopard, panther, tiger, lion, lynx or any other warm-blooded animal, poisonous snake or spider, or any bird which can normally be found in the wild state, or any crocodilian, including but not limited to alligators, crocodiles, caimans and gavials. Ferrets, non-poisonous snakes, rabbits, rodents and birds which have been bred and raised in captivity shall not be considered a wild or exotic animal.
