§ 7-24. Amendments.

  • The National Building Code, 1976 Edition is hereby amended in the following respects:

    Section 104 is hereby amended by the addition of a subparagraph number 104.9 as follows:

    104.9 Demolition and removal.

    The Building Inspector, with approval of the Parish Safety Engineer, shall determine as a matter of fact whether or not said premises, building, part or parts of building, etc., are in imminent danger of collapse or constitute a menace to public safety, whereupon they shall have authority to cause the demolition and removal of said premises, building, part or parts of buildings, etc., by a parish department or a private corporation or persons without previous notice to the owner, executor, administrator, agent or lessee, or any person or persons who may have vested or contingent interest in said premises, building, part or parts of building, except by posting on said dangerous and unsafe structure a notice printed in black that the same has been declared dangerous and unsafe and must be demolished and removed in the public interest, which posting shall constitute public notice to all persons to whom it may concern, and unless action is taken within three (3) days after said posting the parish building inspector or parish safety engineer may order its demolition.

Ord. No. 96-126, adopted Sept. 12, 1996, adopted the Standard Building Code, 1994 Edition, as the building Code of the parish. The amendment listed in section 7-24 refers to the 1976 Edition of the National Building Code. Subsquently the parish adopted Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code in 2006. See section 7-17.
