§ 7-40. Electrical inspector generally.

  • There is hereby created the office of electrical inspector. The person chosen to fill the office of electrical inspector shall be of good moral character, and shall have a thorough knowledge of the standard materials and methods used in the installation of electrical equipment; shall be well versed in approved methods of construction for safety to persons and property, the laws of the state relating to electrical work, and any order, rules and regulations issued by the authority thereof, and the National Electrical Code. He shall have at least five (5) years experience as an electrician with experience in the installation of electrical equipment, or in lieu of such experience shall be a graduate in electrical or mechanical engineering of an accredited college or university, and shall have had two (2) years practical electrical experience.

    The electrical inspector shall be employed in accordance with sections 2-33 through 2-39 of this Code.

    Before entering upon the discharge of his duties he shall file a bond in the sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00), payable to the parish, conditioned upon the faithful performance of his duties.
