The compensation of each council member shall be no greater than one-third (1/3) of
the compensation, including any supplements thereto, payable monthly, received by
a judge of the twenty-fifth Judicial Court, Parish of Plaquemines, Louisiana. The
initial annual salary of parish council members shall be eighteen thousand dollars
($18,000.00), payable monthly. The council member who serves as chairman shall receive
as additional compensation the sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) annually, payable
monthly. The parish council may periodically review the compensation paid to the council
members and may change same by ordinance; provided, however, that no ordinance changing
any compensation shall be passed during the last year of a term and further provided
that a change shall not become effective during the current term of the parish council
members adopting the ordinance.
