§ 18-17. Plan for development of parish resources and facilities.

  • The parish development board for the parish shall, immediately upon its creation, undertake to secure, organize and interpret as much information as may be available with regard to the resources and facilities of the parish and shall prepare in writing a plan and report for the development of the resources and facilities according to the best interest of the parish. The plan and report may contain information showing the location and condition of the streets, highways, bridges, waterways, parks, aviation facilities, commercial airlines, pipelines, railroads, electric power lines, mines, factories, forests, other natural resources, public utilities, and other pertinent appropriate information. The plan and report shall include definite recommendations by the board for the utilization and correlation for a better economic use and distribution of the resources of the parish. The board may adopt one (1) or more parts of the plan from time to time as it is compiled or may adopt the plan in full when completed; but immediately upon the adoption of any part of the whole of the plan, that same shall be immediately reported in writing to the parish council. The completed plans and reports shall be presented in printed form for public distribution after final approval by the parish council.
