Article III. PLAQUEMINES PARISH BOAT HARBORS |
§ 6-36. Application for berthing facility; rental contract exemption.
(a)
Application for boat slips must be made at the boat harbor office at Braithwaite or any council office. All assignments shall be made by the boat harbor office.
(b)
Before being assigned berthing facilities or space for watercraft, the owner, or duly authorized agent of the owner of the watercraft shall make application in writing on the form provided by the Plaquemines Parish government for harbor space and other related facilities. Before the owner, master, or any person in charge of any watercraft shall permit any watercraft to occupy any harbor space, the owner or authorized agent shall have first executed a rental contract therefor on the form provided by the Plaquemines Parish government; provided, however, that commercial watercraft wishing to dock sporadically or on occasion for the sole purpose of picking up and/or discharging passengers, equipment, materials, supplies or any other property may be permitted to do so on specific days and location in the parish boat harbors as designated by the harbor master upon request to and on permission given by the harbor master. No rental contract shall be for a term exceeding one (1) year; provided however, that the incumbent lessee, having complied fully with all lease obligations, shall have priority over all other applicants for berthing space occupied by him. No vessel may secure temporary berthing to exceed fifteen (15) days per calendar year.
