§ 6-34. Harbor master.

  • (a)

    The office of harbor master of the Buras Boat Harbor, Empire Boat Harbor, Pointe a la Hache Boat Harbor and Venice Boat Harbor are hereby created. There shall be no harbor master at the Port Eads Boat Harbor.

    (b)

    The harbor master shall be and hereby is vested with full power and authority to enforce all the rules and regulations herein provided for, including the power to execute, for and on behalf of the government, slip rental contracts for periods of time not to exceed fifteen (15) days annually, in conformity with this article and the resolution or ordinance of the council fixing the rental charge for space. All other rental permits for boat slips shall be executed by the parish president, or designated representative, through the parish general business office, the boat harbor office at the government building, at Braithwaite, Louisiana, pursuant to all pertinent ordinances and resolutions and pursuant to "Boat Harbor Rental Permit Agreement" form, copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof.

    (c)

    The harbor master of each boat harbor shall be furnished by the parish government with a well-bound receipt book, with triplicate forms, and it shall be his duty to give proper receipt therefrom to the person making payment for any and all monies received and to file a duplicate with the parish government general business office or its designee. All monies received shall be in the form of a check or money order. No cash payment will be accepted.
