§ 15-9. Gross vehicle weight limitations on certain parish streets and roads.

(a)

Any vehicle which has a gross vehicle weight exceeding ten thousand (10,000) pounds is prohibited on the streets and roads listed in this section except for parish garbage trucks or trash trucks, school buses, emergency vehicles or vehicles providing services to residents during appropriate business hours.

Penalties.

(1)

For street names not followed by and asterisk in subsection (a). Any person found violating the provisions of subsection (a) by a court of competent jurisdiction shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) or imprisoned for not more than ten (10) days in the parish jail or both fined and imprisoned at the discretion of the court.

(2)

For street names followed by an asterisk in subsection (a). Any person found violating the provisions of subsection (a), for which street names are followed by an asterisk, by a court of competent jurisdiction shall be fined not more than one hundred ($100.00) dollars or imprisoned for not more than ten (10) days in the parish jail or both fined and imprisoned at the discretion of the court.

(c)

(1)

Any vehicles having a gross vehicle weight in excess thirty-five thousand (35,000) pounds are hereby prohibited on English Turn Road from its intersection with Highway 39 south to its intersection with Bazile Drive, Braithwaite Louisiana, except for parish garbage or trash trucks, school buses, emergency vehicles, moving or delivery or construction vehicles.

(2)

Any person found violating the provisions of subsection (c) by a court of competent jurisdiction shall be fined not more than one hundred dollars ($100.00) or imprisoned for not more than thirty (30) days in the parish jail or both fined and imprisoned at the discretion of the court.
